Dr. Tom Forge
Tom is a research scientist working in the general area of applied soil ecology at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Summerland Research and Development Centre in the Okanagan Valley. He also has adjunct appointments in Biology at UBC Okanagan Campus, and in Land and Food Systems at UBC Vancouver.
Tom’s research program encompasses integrated root health management for perennial fruit crops and the ecology and management of plant-parasitic nematodes.
Much of his research addresses how alternative soil, water and nutrient practices, such as the utilization of composts, influence populations of nematodes and other soil-borne pests in relation to soil health indicators. Tom’s research crosses commodity groups, with current research projects on wine grapes, apple, cherry, blueberry, and potato.
