2025 BC Organic Conference Session
Regenerative Agriculture Through Cover Crops Integration
This session highlights the potential benefit of including cover crops in various cropping systems as a practical and impactful strategy for improving soil health, increasing biodiversity, and building long-term resilience in agricultural systems. Through examples and case studies from British Columbia, the session will explore how cover crops can enhance soil structure, boost fertility, improve water retention, and contribute to carbon sequestration, while also supporting natural pest and weed suppression.
Participants will learn about selecting appropriate cover crop species, managing planting and termination timing, and integrating these practices into existing cropping systems. The session will also examine region-specific challenges and opportunities. Designed for growers, researchers, and agricultural professionals, this session provides practical guidance, scientific insights, and real-world lessons to support the successful adoption of cover crops as a core element of regenerative farming.
